SOUTHERN ASSOCIATION OF DANCE MASTERS
To apply for membership in the Southern Association of Dance Masters, it is necessary to take written and oral examinations in the areas that you teach.

Complete the application for membership. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, actively engaged as a teacher or assistant teacher of dance for not less than 2 years, and recommended by a SADM member in good standing or provide two letters of recommendation from professionals in the field of dance who can vouch for the applicant's good moral character. If you are already a member in good standing of CNADM, you are eligible for a reciprocal membership. The reciprocal membership application can be found here.

The application and fee must be received two weeks prior to the convention at which you plan to take your examinations. If postmarked after that date, the fee increases to $40 and you must contact the Chief Examiner to make arrangements to be tested.
3. Register for the convention at which you plan to take your examination(s). Tests are given in the afternoon prior to the beginning of dance classes at the convention.
4. Study for the examination(s) using the study guides provided by the SADM.

Exams may be taken in the fields of tap, ballet, jazz, or acrobatics.

Exams taken in acrobatics must be taken in conjunction with at least one other area.
5. Complete your examination at the convention.
6. Review your scores with the Chief Examiner. Dance examination scores are available the following morning at 8:00 AM in the registration area. A passing grade of 80 or above in at least one field of dance is required for membership.
All applicants are voted on by the general membership upon passing their examination(s). Applicants who successfully pass their examination(s) and receive an affirmation from the general membership must attend at least one convention within a calendar year of their testing. At that convention, applicants will be introduced to the membership and obligated as new members of SADM.
