Certified Student
Teacher Program

Certified Student Teachers are the latest edition to the SADM membership opportunities. If you are a student age 16 or 17 and are actively engaged as a dance teacher or assistant teacher with at least two years of prior experience, you may be qualified to join!


Check out the benefits and advantages to becoming a Certified Student Teacher:

  • Performance opportunities at SADM conventions
  • Ability to take convention classes in either Teacher or Senior Rooms
  • Potential opportunities to assist convention faculty upon request
  • Eligibility for memorial scholarships offered by SADM
  • Exclusive meetings and events during SADM conventions
  • Specific CST T-shirts
  • Opportunity to earn voting privileges and be obligated into SADM general membership*

* NOTE: In order to receive Active Member status, a CST must be obligated within one year following his/her 18th birthday. If they do not comply, they must be re-tested for active membership.


To apply to be a CST, you must;

  • Be 16 or 17 years of age.
  • Complete the Membership Application and circle the CST option. 
  • Pay the one-time $40 application fee 
  • Obtain sponsorship by a SADM Member, in good standing, or provide two letters of recommendation in the field of dance who will vouch for the applicant's good moral character.
  • Mail the completed form, sponsorship or recommendations & application fee to:

  • Pass the SADM exam in one or more of the following categories: tap, ballet, or jazz.

Junior Ambassador Program

Junior Ambassadors (formerly known as Junior Members) have special meetings at each SADM convention. They also receive an exclusive t-shirt. At the summer convention, junior ambassadors have the unique honor of performing as the opening act at the convention banquet.


If you want to become a junior ambassador, the first thing to do is check this list :

  • Are you between 11 and 18 years old?
  • Have you previously attended at least 1 convention?
  • Is a current dance teacher a  SADM member?


Good so far? Here's what you need to do next:

  • Fill out the application for the junior ambassador program by clicking Apply Now below.
  • Supply your teacher with a labeled headshot to submit with payment.
  • Have your teacher write a check  to SADM for $30 to cover your membership fee.
